11th CAB - Phu Loi 1967

PHOTO OF AUSSIE

Sometime in 1967, the 11th CAB briefly shared its unit space with an Australian helicopter unit.  When the Aussie EM discovered I was Canadian-born, we immediately established "The Order of the British Empire Club" or something like that.

American GIs were used to drinking 3.2 beer.  The Aussies brought in things like Fosters -- with a much higher alcohol content.  GI's would try to be
heroes by drinking the Australians under the table.

It didn't work!
I traded something (don't remember what) for an Australian hat and unit badge, and that's what I'm holding in this far too formal picture.
