Triple Duce C & C Mission Along Saigon River July '68

By Michael Cooper

My name is Michael Cooper.  I served with the Robin Hoods in 1968 from about April to July that year.  I was the crew chief on Robin Hood 67222, also known as "Triple Duce."  We were flying a C & C mission along the Saigon River in July of 68 when the engine failed and we crashed in the river. I know very little about the crash as I suffered a broken back and was shipped back to the Army hospital in San Antonio.  Four people died in the crash, the aircraft commander, the door gunner,  and two passengers.  Me and the pilot and two others survived.  I am attaching a picture of me with the helicopter.  I you have a knowledge of the incident that I am referring to, I would appreciate you sharing it with me.  The crash occurred just after take off from a re-fueling at the Naval base at Nau Be

Thanks.

Spc./5 Mike Cooper
