In the Shadow of the
...Is about taking a restored Huey across America to
land in backyards and farmyards, at memorials and
reunions, in parking lots and feedlots to film people
affected by Vietnam, who they are, who they've become.
It's about bringing Veterans and non-Veterans together
in new ways and new places, paying tribute to those
who were patriots when it wasn't popular to do so.
...Is more than a film. It will be an experience
for thousands of people who encounter the Huey in its
flight, which will be tracked on the In
the Shadow of the Blade website and promoted
through local and national media. Vietnam Veteran
organizations will inform their members of the Huey's
movement across the country and thousands of them will
bring their families and friends to show them, to tell
them about it, to offer a salute as it flies on its
Lifting off from Ft. Rucker October 2 and making
it's first landing in Pensacola, FL at the Wall South,
each Landing Zone will capture a representative
picture of the Huey experience in Vietnam, from the
aviators who flew Hueys to the men and women they
carried. Beginning and ending with landings at
memorials built to remember the dead, the film will
pay tribute to Vietnam Veteran service with an
accurate, dignified story told in their own words.
The final landing zone will be at the Vietnam
Veterans National Memorial in Angel Fire, NM during
the Annual Veteran's Day Ceremonies on November 11.
