Sgt. Michael Maggio, U.S. Army Air Ambulance Detachment, clears the back of an UH-1 Huey during a flight from Polk Army Airfield to Honor Field Saturday. Maggio’s helicopter, and others in its formation, were led by a Huey owned by the Texas Air Command Museum. The Huey has been flying to various installations, memorials, ceremonies and anywhere else that Vietnam veterans can be found. While accompanying the Huey on its journey across America, film makers from Arrowhead Film and Video Group stopped at Fort Polk to tape the stories of several veterans and Huey pilots. Their stories will be aired in the upcoming documentary “In the Shadow of the Blade,” a film that will tell how the Vietnam War and the Huey affected the lives of veterans and family members.
