Major General James A. Cozine
was assigned as the Deputy Commanding General (West) for Fifth United States
Army on 1 August 2002. General Cozine received his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Boise State University and is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
The General’s active military service began in 1966.
As a Warrant Officer aviator, he flew attack helicopters with the 1st
Aviation Brigade in Vietnam. He received a direct commission in 1979 and has
held numerous command and staff positions which include: Chief of Staff,

assuming his current duties, General Cozine served as Commander, 116th
