A SLOW WALK IN A COLD RAIN
It was like nothing you had gone through before Nothing to prepare you for what you would find A year spent in a place like no other A time firmly locked in your mind
From the fears and the horrors you saw The sorrow slowly seeped into you Like a chill settling into your bones The experience totally new
Never knowing quite why things happened Each day brought new meaning and strife And when it was passed and you came back to the world You tried to make sense of your life
But the chill is still there in your soul Inside you still battle the storm The thoughts and the images recalled That part of you can never be warm
The memories are buried within you And no matter how hard you try You know you can never forget them And that is probably why
You know that to keep your mind safe To keep from going completely insane
You pull those memories out and confront them
