“Years”

The last thirty years have come and gone,
And all of us are still trying to hold on.
To all of the dreams we have dreamt about,
While fighting a war and hoping to get out.

Our bodies returned home looking for morale support,
But all we got was a rude retort.
So we went in a hole and buried our fears,
Never sharing, for we thought no one really cares.

Then we found each other in a mysterious way,
And formed a bond that’s here to stay.
No one else will ever understand,
What makes us this type of men.

Only we know what we have been through,
And all other warriors who have been through it too.
We know what it takes to stay alive,
And we know what it takes for us to survive.

But we still need each other in that special way,
As only a Brother will know what to say.
