WE GAVE A SHIT!

   Please notice, 
In Vietnam, 
We were young and did give a shit!
When scared,
We did hide it in laughter, in tears,
   In gallons of beers.
We all cursed Victor Charles,
no love lost, 
not a bit!

   When we locked and loaded, 
It wasn't for paper target we aimed,
For it was pure survival that we fought,
   Pockets of MPC, 
Expensive shit we bought!
Couldn't afford it on civilian salary, 
What a shame!

   We spread love on the closest things,
On pets and Mascots 
we held so dear,
   A little humanity 
we would smear.
We were always proud of 
our flight wings!

   A crewman dies, 
we quickly dry our eyes,
Some tears don't fall,
Our hearts harden, 
even when taps is called,
   We await our bunks,
at night, and hear the cries!

   Little orphans 
in black pajamas 
with little Dong,
Our heart strings fared,
   High explosive surprises, 
wounded laid,
Scruffy little bastards, 
Junior Viet Cong.

   Drafted or Joined-up, 
We went,
We laid it all on the line,
   The Goodies weren't that fine,
Our loose change, 
on a whore, 
well spent!

   WE were there! 
We gave a shit!
We are hear NOW! 
WE want our fair bit!
   We NOW give a shit!
