Dead Eyes

Eyes Always staring
Always watching

Always knowing

I see those eyes everyday

Those of a gook

A long time ago

And that stare

I remember watching those eyes

As I emptied my clip

Not losing eye contact

As my bullets took his life

And they are still there

Watching me

Prodding me

To my own destruction

If I had only been just a little slower

I would have died

And would not have to endure

The stare

It does not matter

Awake

Or asleep

I see his eyes

Why not just a nameless death

In a long dead war

Although nameless

He is not sightless

I fear him

Fear that we may meet again

And on this battlefield

I will be lost
