  SPIRITUAL WARRIOR
MIA - in LAOS Since 1972
CPT. GEORGE D. MACDONALD

I want to honor a web site that has been fighting for answers to the basic questions surrounding the MIA issues. In this particular web site, the plight of Air Force Captain George D. Macdonald is championed by a young advocate - Jennifer Martinez. She has been walking the point with this issue for about a decade. She has been very active in helping families and veterans of the Vietnam War. She was recently appointed to "The Vietnam Veteran Support Network" - becoming not only the youngest member, and the only women to serve in this select group - but she also is the only non-veteran ever allowed to assist in this organization. She is a special young angel and this web site wants to call attention to her work and promote her web site and it's cause. Below is an excerpt from one of my first emails with Jennifer.

Here's a bit about me incase you're wondering about my interest in the war. As a teenager in the early to mid 1980's, I became very interested in the war. I didn't hear much about it and what I did hear was usually negative. I felt there had to be more to it than that and for some reason, became consumed with the quest for knowledge and understanding. To this day I'm still deeply interested, my research and study continues. I do this alone by reading, networking with other vets and researching online. After several years of this, I reached the conclusion that these brave men needed to be remembered, it seemed as if know one cared. So I do my best to think of them and remember them. I discovered the POW/MIA issue through my research and became involved with that. I felt then, and feel now, that these missing men and their families need all the help they can get.

People always ask me how a young girl (I'm 34 now, not so young anymore) such as myself became so involved with the Vietnam War and the POW/MIA issue and that's a hard question for me to answer. There wasn't any one thing that triggered it, it was almost as if it were a calling. I just got it into my head that this was something I needed to study. There have been several times throughout the years that I have taken a break from both the War and the POW/MIA issue, but then I get that strong feeling again, kind of nagging at me to get back into it. It won't go away until I become involved again. So here I am...
