Hello "Huey Friends!"
Just wanted to update you on the film, or as we call it around here, THE
PROJECT.
First, we have the website up, albeit still under construction. You
can see
the full proposal we're currently submitting at www.intheshadowoftheblade.com.
Eventually the site will include some video, a message room, and a
follow-the-Huey flight progress status. Hope you'll visit now and
often!
We're not funded yet, but we have some very promising interest and have
tentacles out in several directions. Among the people we've
contacted is
Vietnam Veteran and U.S. Senator Max Cleland, who was, according to
reports, extremely enthusiastic and committed to helping.
Another very exciting development is the enthusiastic solicitation of us
by
Texas Tech University Press, who wants to publish a companion book.
This was something we had talked about as a way to supplement the content
film can't cover in constrained time. How wonderful to have a
publisher's interest so soon!
Thanks to all of you who provided feedback on the first cut. We took
your words to heart and went back to the studio. The current trailer
includes some narration and a reorder of content. It seems to work
much better.
You'll see, when you visit the website, our preliminary flight plan.
We put
this together so we could create a budget and timeline. It's
7,000-plus
road miles. Two months of hard travel. Probably totally
insane. But we
think it'll all be worth it.
Keep in mind, though, that it could still change, and that we'll maintain
flexibility as we know we'll encounter worthy stories on the journey.
As
soon as we get funding, we'll start solidifying plans and talking to those
of you whose backyards we'll be landing in.
Until then, we'll keep you posted. As always, if any of you have a
couple
of million for a good cause, let us know!
All the best to all of you,
Cheryl and Patrick
