EDITOR - BILL McDONALD

Some of those attending "The 128th Assault Helicopter Company Reunion" on Memorial Day weekend (2001) in Sacramento were introduced to the current project of "The International World Peace Rose Gardens", which sits next to the California Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. It is by no accident that a garden dedicated to world peace is adjacent to the Vietnam Memorial.

TJ David and Sylvia Villalobos are the movers and shakers behind the movement and the founders of this world wide effort.  They want to include Veterans of all wars into their newest project. They are especially reaching out to Vietnam veterans to help build this lasting monument to world peace.

About the Project

September 4, 1995, the California Legislature passed a Resolution that called for the establishment of a privately funded Rose Garden Memorial on the grounds of the State Capitol. The Garden is being established to bring attention to many aspects of world peace. The Garden will be located at the east end of Capitol Park, adjacent to 15th Street and the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.

The International World Peace Rose Gardens, founded in 1988, is a Sacramento based, non-profit foundation dedicated to establishing symbolic Rose Gardens throughout the world for peace.

Their gardens grace some of the most cultural, historic and sacred grounds in the world. They hope to impact world peace by creating symbolic rose gardens that serve as centers for community action

The History: International World Peace Rose Gardens is a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing beautiful rose gardens for world peace and harmony amongst all nations, cultures and religions of the world. They use the official flower of the United States, the rose, as a silent ambassador of peace.

Rose gardens planted in symbolic designs grace some of the most cultural, historic and sacred grounds of the world. They can be found at:

*The Lake Shrine Gandhi Peace Memorial
  Pacific Palisades, CA
*The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe
  Mexico City, Mexico
*The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe
  Sacramento, CA
(a sister garden to Mexico City's garden)
*The Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi
  Assisi, Italy
*The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site
  Atlanta, Georgia

Each garden focuses on a different aspect of peace. The Sacramento Capitol project is the biggest and most far reaching effort. They hope to unit not only veterans, but women, children and families, so that this garden truly represents all people.

Give the Gift That Will Last for Generations

They invite you to become a part of this historic garden by dedicating the name of a loved one, someone special in your life, or yourself on behalf of peace. The name(s) will be engraved on permanent plaques in the garden in alphabetical order, except for friends or families who have requested that their names be placed together. The names will be a constant reminder to all who visit of the universal support for world peace.

You will receive a Certificate of Recognition  for each name you honor in the garden. The handsome certificate is suitable for framing and can be used as a gift.

We have provided a convenient order form at our website for you to order online, or to call, fax or send it to us by regular mail.
