From the website of the
Sharon Ann Lane Foundation
On June 8, 1969, 1LT SHARON ANN LANE, Army
Nurse Corps, was killed on duty in the Vietnamese Ward 4 of the 312th
Evacuation Hospital, Chu Lai, Republic of Vietnam, during an incoming
mortar attack. The name of Sharon Ann Lane is engraved on the black
granite panel 23 W, line 112 of the VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL, THE WALL,
in Washington, D.C., among the more than 58,000 Americans who perished in
the Vietnam War. The Sharon Ann Lane Foundation will honor her memory
among the people of Vietnam by erecting a Medical Clinic near the site of
her service. THE SHARON ANN LANE FOUNDATION CLINIC will become a testament
to Sharon's Nursing dedication to American soldiers, Vietnamese civilians,
and soldiers of South and North Vietnam. Sharon treated all of her
patients with kindness, compassion, dignity, respect and humanity whether
American, Vietnamese civilians, soldiers of South or North Vietnam (NVA),
Viet Cong (VC) or Prisoners of War (PW).
I will be going to visit this unfinished clinic, in
late April (2002) and I will be lending my energies and abilities to helping
this wonderful foundation, finish this project and maintain it. They need
your support with funding. Please go visit their website and see what all
this is about. Then, help the healing process for yourself and both
countries - by adding your efforts and money, to make this clinic succeed.
On their website you can find out details of how you can donate and help.

Bill McDonald , Going Back to
Vietnam -April 2002
Time has come full circle in my life - now, 35 years after I
was shot down and wounded in Vietnam (April of 1967) I will be stepping
back once again, onto that blood and memory soaked, soil of Vietnam. One
cannot help but feel that this is going to be a time for some long over
due, emotions
to swell up within me. I will be touring the countryside and seeing my old area of operations - including the Iron Triangle, Hobo Woods, Phu Loi
and Chu Chi , among other locations.
I will be capturing my impressions and thoughts and sharing them on
this website, when I return back in May. I will be posting both photos and
a written impression of the trip. I am not sure how I will react, or what
emotional buttons within me will get pushed. Most of us veterans never really
took much time to stop and really reflect on our "Tour
Of Duty" when we were there - it is only afterwards, that we have
dared
to look back. Sometimes that hurts - but sometimes it heals. I am
praying and expecting this to be a journey of some healing.

THE KITCHEN TABLE GANG NEEDS YOUR HELP!|
By Charlie Taliaferro
Are you interested in providing some "R & R" for military
veterans hospitalized in VA medical facilities across the United States?
If so, then you are cordially invited to visit the Kitchen Table Gang's
website at http://www.kitchentablegang.org
Or, if you can't get through, then try our mirror website at http://taliaferro.net/veterans
We hope you deem us worthy of financial assistance. It doesn't have
to be anything big -this is strictly a "grass roots" effort and
contributions of $1.00 (less than a cup of coffee) are just fine!
Have we been successful helping veterans? Well, just read our
199-page plus guestbook and the
letters on the website and judge for yourself.
The Kitchen Table Gang Trust is is organized as a 501(c)3
non-profit veteran's organization with no political agenda by a group
of retired veterans and volunteers. Remember, the only
person a veteran can count on is another veteran! We
really need your help! Thanks and God bless YOU!

Update:
"In
The Shadow of The BLade"
The film documentary on the Huey
"In The Shadow of The Blade" may be back on track again. Recent
developments may have lined up a "huey"
helicopter to use for the filming. It belongs to the Texas Air Museum. Several American
Airlines pilots have expressed an interest in assisting with this
project. Talks are under way this month, to determine the probability of
that proposal.

There is a very touching story
about Doug Ward and his close encounter with death, and his old friend
Dutch - by his wife Leilah Ward - check it out on this
