A Special Edition Up Date on "In The Shadow of The Blade" Documentary Project

The filming schedule for the Huey documentary "In The Shadow of The Blade", has been modified due to financial situations - the new lift-off from Fort Rucker is now planned for October 2, 2002. There will not be a cross country flight out to the west coast. However, some of the veterans who were scheduled to be interviewed as part of this documentary will be at Fort Rucker for the lift off celebrations.
The huey that is being used is a former 173rd Assault Helicopter Company slick that flew out "Rocket City" in the late 60's. This is an old Robin Hood aircraft and will painted with original company markings.
The new plans call for a slight change in the way the movie will be shot and the way the stories will be told - but the project will still retain that spiritual healing quality as it unfolds the experiences of veterans and others who were touched in various ways by this icon of the Vietnam War.
When a new flight plan is released it will be posted on this website. Stay tuned - the Shadow continues to live on!

As a way for you to show the world that you support our effort, we are now offering free tee shirts for any donations of $40 or more. Please keep in mind that everyone working on this project is donating their time and energy because of their passion and dedication to this movie. Every dollar received goes towards paying for blade time on the helicopter, fuel, parts, insurance, other expenses that we will incur flying this great veteran around the country to make this film, and towards building a permanent facility to house this storied helicopter. Also keep in mind that all donations are tax deductible, and that you will receive a receipt for your records from the Texas Air Command Museum, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.

These tees are black heavy duty 100% cotton tees with the image from the home page of the website on the front:
