MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS - SACRAMENTO, CA 2003

The reading of all the names of those killed in Vietnam War from California is done each Memorial Day Weekend in cooperation with employees from the United States Postal Service in Sacramento, VVA Chapter 500 and other local veteran groups and local CBS TV station Channel 13. There is a program of afternoon speeches, music, color guard presentations and much more. This annual event is a California tradition. This year Rev. Bill McDonald told the media and the audience the story of "Baby Kathleen" and then introduced both her and her father to everyone there. The Sacramento Bee Newspaper later in the week ran a story of Kathleen's rescue in 1969 and the adoption by her dad Marvin Epps.

"Easy" is a member of the famous Wolfhounds of the 27th infantry Regiment who served in Vietnam. His website shares memories of that unit along with photos and his own poetry.
