About The Poems The prose covers a period of time just prior to shipping out for Vietnam, the experience in Vietnam and on R & R, and follows up with some reflective thoughts after returning to "normal life" once again. It ends with a couple of poems written at the Vietnam Wall in DC. At the top of most of the poems McDonald noted the dates and the place they were created, to help the reader understand the thought process that went into the poem itself. The poems are all protected by Copyright, however, permission to reproduce individual poems, for any non-profit publication or veteran's magazine, is generally granted without any fees. A request must be submitted prior to publication, and all published material must credit the poet for each poem. Read and experience the feelings of the Vietnam War as seen through the eyes and dreams of a combat veteran.
