WANTED: COMBAT VETERANS TO REINFORCE THE SUPPORT NETWORK

All the pieces of this puzzle are about to fall into place.  In the beginning, all I had was myself;  now, we have a few good men.  It is not a large Army, but we have the angels on our side.  Surely God is at work in all that has happened and that will happen.  I still do not know how many men will reach out to us.  But I do know that whoever they are - God knows who they are; he has no MIA souls.  Our veteran brothers need a helping hand; not someone whose hands carried picket signs for love and peace and now offer us solace.

Brothers, we are being offered a chance to serve.  To make something good from all of our hurting.  We have a chance to show others that their lives are worth living and that we care for them.

We are looking for an elite group of men.  Each one will be capable of offering their own unique brand of advice.  Those veterans who seek out our Support Network will need those particular skills and background that only you will be able to offer.   As you know, many still suffer from PTSD.  Some will have drug and drinking problems.  Most will feel rejected and lost, having never found home again, when they tried to return from their "Tour of Duty".  It was never to be the same for any of us.

I need you!  If you choose to go this path with me, I need you to volunteer your services.  All that we ask is that you offer what you feel in your heart to those seeking your advice.  You are not asked to be a substitute for professional treatment, but a friend who can help these men back to some spiritual path.

As a combat veteran, you have something to offer those who will come to you for help.   This requires no money - I am paying for all costs and will never ask you for any donations of any kind.  All I want is your service.  You may have waited all your life for that one mission -- the one where you could serve God and your brothers -- well this is it.  This is your opportunity to give something back to this world; to make peace with yourself and the war.  For many brothers, the war still rages in their souls and hearts -- it is up to us to cross those battle fields and pull them out of that line of fire.  They need a spiritual healing.  They want only to be understood and respected -- you can give that.  They do not have to earn that with us -- they already paid for it with their soul in Nam.

So, that is our assignment.  That is our mission.  That is what we can do, if we take those first steps forward together.  We can make a difference.  Are you willing to "walk point" with me on this?  Are you willing to sit at your computer a few hours a week helping your brothers cope and survive?  Are you going to accept this challenge and in the process find friendship, fellowship, love, sorrow, forgiveness, and hurting?  It will not always be easy, but neither was Nam.  We cannot walk away from our brothers -- we cannot abandoned them.

Are you ready?  Lock and load your bibles, men.  Let us take that one step together . . .

God bless us all on this mission, Bill McDonald
